Mesothelioma Cancer? What?

Yep, that’s right. That crazy garbled word you couldn’t pronounce if you tried, mesothelioma, that’s a type of cancer. What is it? You can get it from exposure to asbestos, which I will talk about later. Well basically harmful cancer cells grow in the mesothelium, which is the lining that covers pretty much all of your internal organs (the ones that are key to your survival, like your heart and lungs). So, in a way, it’s like termites in a house, because they appear, grow, and ultimately destroy what protects what is most valuable to you. You could also think of it as the IRS with your money.

Mesothelioma Lung Cancer

Mesothelioma lung cancer is also referred to as pleural mesothelioma and it is the leading cause of death in cases related to asbestos exposure followed by the cancer affecting the abdomen known as peritoneal mesothelioma. If you are not familiar with asbestos and mesothelioma, you need to take time and perform a thorough search on the internet that will reveal so much. Asbestos is a group of fibrous minerals which occur naturally. The minerals are used to produce so many products in industries. It was used in ceilings, floors, crutch and brake parts, shipyards and so many others. When the asbestos fibers break lose, they become airborne and people around are likely to inhale. Once the fibers are in your system, they stay for a long time until the disease starts to manifest.

The disease can take 30 to 50 years before it is active. Therefore workers who are exposed to the substance are at a very high risk of being exposed and they may also pass it to their families through their cloths. The workers include those who work in steel, plumbing, milling, mining, insulation and workers of other industries who deal with asbestos as well. There are very many symptoms of mesothelioma lung cancer and they include the following. Difficulty in breathing, shortness of breath, chest pains that do not go away, coughing, anemia and others. The affected area is the protective lining referred to as the mesothelium.

What is mesothelioma? This name refers to a very rare type of cancer that has some thousands of cases on all over the world. This type on cancer is caused by inhalation of Asbestos. Asbestos are some materials used in construction manufacturers.

There are four types of mesothelioma cancer, three types of them are very dangerous and are very hard to treat, there three types are Pleural Mesothelioma “Tumors develop in lung lining”, the second dangerous type is Peritoneal Mesothelioma “Tumors develop on Peritoneum, the outer membrane of the internal organs in the abdominal cavity, the third dangerous type is Pericardial Mesothelioma “Tumors develop in the sac that contain the heart”. The fourth type is Benign Mesothelioma and this type is not dangerous.
